So Sunday February 1, there was a "dire" snowstorm that caused "chaos". There were sensational reports about London receiving over a foot of snow but that is not true, at least not in South Kensington. We saw about 4 or 5 inches. The whole city shut down. Almost all tubes and buses were canceled on Monday. Basically all British schools (including our own) had classes canceled. All the British people around us were going crazy making snow men everywhere and throwing snowballs at who ever walked by. It was like they had never seen snow. The side walks were a mess because no one owned shovels and no one salted.
Everyone from BU found it so funny and halarious. I understand that they only get a snow fall like that every 20 years so why invest in heavy snow equipment the way a city like Boston would, but the news reports and the reaction made London look foolish. The news anchor would be standing in "deep" snow outside of London, but there would be about 4 inches you could see grass patches in the background. I heard it cost the city of London one billion pounds to deal with it. Most schools had classes canceled Tuesday too but BU did not.
So on Monday February 2 I got to stay in and work on my paper which was great. Tuesday February 3 and Wednesday February 4 were pretty quiet. I went to class, did lots of homework and got my laundry done.
