London Theater!

So in the last week I have seen three productions!

Sunday March 1 I saw the opera Carmen with Eveleen at the Royal Albert Hall right down the street from me. It was absolutely amazing! Just like The Magic Flute they sang the lyrics in English which was very helpful because I didn't feel like buying a program. The theater itself is absolutely beautiful and is round. I had never been in a round audience before so that was very interesting. The stage was in the middle and the actors coordinate themselves to accommodate all views. I loved the music and I was so happy because I could see the orchestra.

Tuesday March 3 I saw Entertaining Mr. Sloane and it was very scandalous! I bought the tickets through BU by myself but I found a friend once I got there. I guess the play was banned for awhile in the 1950's or 1960's because of content. The plot involves a young man, Mr. Sloane, renting a room from a lonely women in the 1950's and everything that ensues. The theater was smaller but I was impressed with the seats that BU set up for us.

Wednesday March 4 I saw La Boheme performed by the English National Opera with Ashley. The sets and the costumes were amazing! I really enjoyed the music and Rent it based off the this opera so it was fun to compare Rent and the opera.

My favorite piece was Carmen though. Probably because I have sang and played music from it. But also the Royal Albert Hall was just fabulous!

I really do love seeing opera. The costumes, sets, singing, orchestra, and acting is amazing. I hope to see much more of it in the future.
